Strong and beautiful, yet vulnerable. That's the understanding you will come away with after listening to Ondee! In her music, she expresses the human realities of life, which include all its ups and downs, but she especially clues us in on the fact that a woman has a dignified role in society and along side her man. I have a very keen interest in the lyrics of songs and the person behind them. Ondee's lyrics reveal a person who is truly aware of her surroundings, and cares about them as well. I didn't just "want" to have an interview with her, I "needed" to have an interview with her, to find out what makes her spin? After my interview with her, a local Jazz & Blues artists mentioned to me, "she has class and Integrity". I started out by saying Ondee is Strong, Beautiful, and vulnerable. In what sense? Strong, in that she stands up for her convictions. Beautiful, in that she carries her womanhood well. Vulnerable, because she admits that she is susceptible too... (listen to her song, "I Belong To You"). Welcome to Ondee's World! I'm honored to be a part of it!

My sis hosted an American Idol party last night and one of the guests purchased "Flowers" right off the easel. You can see "Nashvegas", which is not for sale, over the mantel. Bittersweet to bid another painting farewell. It will have a great home!

Dying Day
Posted May 29, 2007

Gracias to Skip at KUVO radio 89.3 FM for playing the original "Dying Day" on Saturday night's broadcast!!! I recorded it in 2001 and people still appreciate it. STORY BEHIND THE SONG: my daddy wrote this love song for my mom ~25 years ago. It was a slow, haunting ballad at that time. I took it off the shelf, added two verses, and a new arrangement and voila!

Thanks for coming out and showing me some love at last night's show! The Crescent is a lovely, intimate place to play. The Songwriters Anonymous performers were diverse and incredible. Check out my review of last night's gig:

Ondee is wound up, Ondee is soothing, Ondee is Ondee. She is not just a writer and an artist, she is a true performer.
